Welcome. I'm not out there yet, so haven't done much actual work, but I'm hoping to get out there in March for a week. From what I've seen so far, wind or solar electric would work well, its always windy, and pretty often sunny. From there, it depends on how long you'd spend out there, full time or just the occasional weekend. If not full time, probably cheaper to haul water, and buy a portable generator. It would probably take a few years to break even on a well, but you can haul it from town. There is power, utility poles in some area. I have one right across the county road from my plots. Even so, since I won't be out there very much for the next few years, it doesn't make sense to pay a connection and monthly fee. But there are lots of options! If you're already in Arizona, you should be used to the desert lifestyle.
Good luck, welcome, and feel free to post questions.
Hello my husband and I just purchased 100 acres in the Silver Spur Ranch Unit 12 section 6 block 70 Tracts 19 20 21 28 and 29 we are very excited about moving and was wondering about the cost of living are the groceries expensive would it be a suitable area to build a walapini to grow our own fruits and vegetables I know I will need to do soil amendments also thought about hydroponic gardening but wasn't sure about it because of the water situation hoping to start a little business in my community offering non gmo plants and maybe even some vegetables and fruits and I would love to find others in the area with similar interests of gardening and prepping thanks heidi b
Heidi, Are you on Texas Rangers Road? I have 340 acres in the Silver Spur and love the scenery there. I'm up the road from you. The nearest grocery store of consequence is in Van Horn. Everyone tells me they go to El Paso to shop. I went there once but I do not like that traffic and road construction. You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I just recently acquired 40 acres on the corner of Lone Ranger and Lone Star Trail. I got lots 15 & 16 on unit 8 section 22. Looking forward to exploring the land and spending time away from the city's. I would like to meet any folks that are around the area on the weekend of the 24th of this month. I plan on heading down to look for more land to hunt on.
Andy, We are neighbors. I guess you are next door to Ann? Which lots does she have 9-14? I have Unit 8 Section 22 lots 1-8. Yours are across the dirt road from my lot 1-2. I love that section of the ranch the best.
Nice to meet you neighbor. Yes, I am next to Ann. I just learned of her this past week. I'm actually looking in section 24 for more land.
I can't wait to get down there in a couple weeks. Do you go down often? What can you tell me about water depth?
Please email me: email@example.com
I'd like to talk more in depth about Silver Spur Ranch.
Bill and I just bought 20 acres off of 1111 we plan to move there soon coming out to check things out first. Would love to hear from someone in blue quail 3 I can't wait to meet like minded people who have gotten tired of too much traffic and noise. We live 6 miles from ocean city md. Turnover of almost 300,00 people every week and 400,00 to 450,00 for holidays during summer.
Are you at sunset ranches? We are in blue quail 3. I looked at some geology maps and there is a small underground areavof water in sunset ranch at the first angle left on 1111 after sierra blanca so we are going to have some one drill for us. I'm wondering about leaving items in a barn we build while we go back to Maryland to get our other tractor and my truck are they fairly secure ? Or will our absence bring less desirable people to see what they can make off with.
Interesting reading here! I just bought 20 acres in Silver Spur......
Tract 22 in unit 12, section 6, block 70........
I plan to be down on September 16 and get a good look at the entire area. Passed through on I-10 a few times MANY years ago. Tired of the increasing traffic and expense of the East Coast.... So planning now.
My husband richard and I just bought 40acres unit 602 tract 8 and 15. Visited the place a few weeks back and loved it. Dirt roads not too far off Highway and close to some nice family vacation places. Has anyone had a well dug yet close by? Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Hey yall. We just bought 40 acres 8n unit 616, tracts 1&2. Are we going to be near anyone in this location?
I am really writing this to find out if anyone got any real insight on the water situation. And also to find out about the cost of bringing electricity in.
Thanks neighbors! We will be coming out the first week of 2017 to check out our new property.
If anyone would like to keep in touch I'm at email@example.com
Have fun, y'all.
