Good evening Slav I just found your website, Good show I hope to bee talking to you in person some time in the future.I just purchased 200 acre on Indian Hot springs Rd. just got back from a tour of the property and think I will like it there. I will be retiring from the trucking company that I own in 5 years or that the plan. I`m sure it will take some adjustment after living in Baltimore, Md. all my life. I have been doing some research on septic, water wells and dirt tanks for irrigation and will be returning to meet with the contractors in September.
The area you bought in looks to be north of town I bought about 10 miles south off of rt1111. So some of the questions I have are: have you drilled for water or have you heard anything about the quality and depth.
Mike, we are your neighbors off Indian Hot Springs Rd. Please let us know when you will be out in September because we would love to meet with you. We have 220 acres across the road from where your land is located.
I guess I'm a neighbor with some of you. I just bought 40 acres at sunset ranch. I have seen some other posts that have disturbed me greatly. I want to put either a small portable cabin or RV and live off grid. Any advice for water or solar power i would be grateful. I may have to call Richard Jr. My plot is on McNeely rd 12 miles north on fm1111.hoping to be out there in a year or so. Hope to meet some of you soon.
Why can I not find Buckhorn rd on Google Earth, or sunset ranches blue quail phase 3 for that matter. Please help, cause wife and I just sealed the deal on 24.45 acres, unit 639 lot 29 section 2 block 71
Wife and I just purchased 24.45 acres, Blue Quail III. And we have tried to locate it on Google Earth, to no avail. I was wondering about roads ( PAVED OR DIRT ) nearby, to help narrow it down. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THX IN ADVANCE
I have 60 acres in Blue Quail III, most of the roads are dirt and you will not be able to see it on google earth I tried also before taking my land tour. I didn't have cell phone service while I was on the property which is why you wont get it on the map.
I found a map online that was able to pin point my lot and the neighbors have an above ground pool at their ranch so it must not be that bad. I'm about 7 miles from the Rio and about 12 from town. I have maps that show roads that will allow you google map them and use the zoom function to actually do a virtual walk tour. Its KOOL!!
I hunt out there each year. Live in the Dallas area, however your post caught my attention. 1. Because I hunt out there and know that water is a scarce, so curious how that's going or went for you? 2. My wife is from Balt. Md., so wondering how you adjusted. That had to be a shock on many fronts to you. I will say the sunsets are beautiful and the nights peaceful...unless you have to deal with any of the illegals or any other crime issues out there. I recently started making payments on a piece of the Silver Spur Ranch, I have 4 parcels of 20 acres each, for about 80+ Acres, total. The land is on the Indian Hot Springs Road, south of Sierra Blanca. I drove out from Austin on the 4th of July holiday weekend this year (2015) and camped.
Wind should be a good option for power generation, or flying kites! Saw a few jack rabbits and road runner birds. The stars at night were breathtaking.
Just wanted to say Thanks to Norm Henderson for posting the information about the water company, that seems to be a better option than drilling a well, especially for my plans of only going out a few times a year. Eventually I'll retire out there, but considering the cost of a well, it would take a LONG time to break even on that!
I did see one person living across from my property, noticed he had water tank in the back of his truck, so he likely was getting water from town. I respected his no trespassing signs and didn't go in to talk to him...
For anyone who hasn't been to your property yet, what I saw looks much like the pictures I saw on the websites. And it would look about the same for a few miles in any direction! I was able to find enough roads on Google Maps to get GPS Coordinates of my property. The company had offered a tour, but schedules didn't work out, I didn't have any problem finding it on my own, between my GPS and road signs. Once there, I walked the property and used my GPS to mark all the survey markers.

I would like to introduce myself as a Sierra Blanca land purchaser. I'm in the process of buying 80 acres. I came across this site while trying to find maps or a way to see the location of the property at unit 650 lots 2-5 section 21 block 26.
I mainly bought as an investment with plans to build an earth ship at some point. I hope to meet you all whenever I get a chance to visit the property.
In the "Little Truck" picture, there is a motorhome, that is parked just off the county road, there is a power line there. I had hiked up toward the hill, to get the view over my property. That view was looking toward the south, across the valley.
The Silver Spur sign is at the beginning of the ranch, my property is a mile or so past that I think, been a while now :)
The tree is on one corner of my property, there were a few others like that, they grow probably over 10 feet tall, but most of the scrub brush is only 2 or 3 feet tall... in some areas the brush is thick enough you can't walk through it, but there are game trails so you just walk around the brush.
We just purchased 60 acres in the Blue Quail Phase1. To be exact, it is Unit 416 - lots 12, 13 and 14. I have seen many posts asking about water, but have not seen any answers.
